Too many DA's across Texas fail to uphold the law and follow proper guidelines with issuing bonds and sentencing.

Rep. David Lowe authored HJR 150, which would allow voters to amend the Texas Constitution to grant the Attorney General concurrent jurisdiction with county and district attorneys in prosecuting any criminal offense under Texas law. This expands the Attorney General's powers beyond the current limitations, which primarily involve civil litigation and certain criminal matters.

It died, like so many good bills, without a hearing in the House State Affairs Committee, chaired by Republican Ken King.
