Rep. Brent Money wrote a bill to HB 4006 to establish a process for the suspension and removal of district attorneys, criminal district attorneys, and county attorneys who refuse to enforce Texas law. The bill allows the Governor to suspend such officials if they are found to be in violation of their duty to execute and enforce state laws. Upon suspension, the Governor is required to file a petition for removal in district court, where a jury trial will determine whether the official is permanently removed from office. If removed, the Governor's temporary appointment remains in place until a permanent successor is chosen through the regular process. If the jury does not find grounds for removal, the official is reinstated immediately.

What a great bill!

It died without a hearing in the House State Affairs Committee, chaired by Republican Ken King.
